One of the world’s largest GP hatcheries recently opened in Pakistan

Grand Parent Poultry (Pvt) Ltd of Lahore held a commemoration ceremony to herald the successful completion of fifteen years as the leading producer of broiler breeders in Pakistan.
It was incorporated in 1989 and is part of the Big Bird Group of Companies. Its operations are in collaboration with Hubbard SAS France. Today it comprises two GP hatcheries, several GP farms, and a well equipped diagnostic laboratory incorporating latest technology.

Seminars were organized in Lahore and Islamabad as part of the event. The seminars were very well attended with approximately 400 poultry entrepreneurs at each venue. In his welcome address, Mr. Abdul Basit, Chairman of the Big Bird Group of companies, welcomed the different speakers (among them Mr. Eric Bohez, M.D. of Petersime N.V.) and all of the guests.

During his presentation, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Managing Director of Grand Parent Poultry, presented a survey of the company’s development and activities over the last fifteen years, as well as an overview of the Pakistan poultry industry. The poultry business in Pakistan has experienced enormous growth and has quadrupled in the last fifteen years. The standards and the breeder quality of Grand Parents Poultry Company are considered by Hubbard to be one of the best in the world.

The event also marked the inauguration of the new GP hatchery, which is fully equipped with Petersime incubators.

After comparing and carefully studying the results, the quality, and the performance of the breeders produced in their existing hatchery, the company decided to purchase Petersime AirStreamer™ incubators.

The GP hatchery has been equipped with thirty-two Airstreamer™ 12S setters and a corresponding number of AirStreamer™ AS-4H hatchers. The planning already foresees the installation of an additional sixteen setters and eight hatchers. This new project is among the world’s five largest GP hatcheries.

During his presentation, Dr. Mustafa Kamal pointed out the advantages offered by the unique bio-response AirStreamer™ concept (with OvoScan™, Dynamic Weight Loss System™, and CO2NTROL™) to his company and his customers.

The fact that Petersime offered a great deal of professional support in the preparation of the project was also a decisive factor in Grand Parent Poultry’s choice. The project was conceived in close collaboration with the Petersime Project Department, which also designed and supplied a custom-made air handling system for the entire hatchery.

Dr. Kamal re-iterated the company’s commitment to producing the highest quality parent stock and to improving broiler performance by using the most advanced technology in their hatcheries and farms.
