Petersime organises major hatchery training session for Suguna Poultry Farm Ltd (India)
(01/02/08)
Suguna Poultry Farm Ltd is a leading player in the Indian poultry industry, active in both the broiler and layer business. The company currently operates in ten Indian states and had a turnover of over €270 million in 2007. Its pioneering efforts in contract farming have helped over 13,000 Indian farmers to grow along with the company.
The hatchery training session took place last December at the Jenny Club Conference Centre in the city of Coimbatore, where Suguna has its headquarters. The Petersime Service Station training team provided the participants with in-depth expertise on how to obtain maximum chick quality through bio-response incubation mechanisms. A wide range of technical and operational tools and techniques were covered as well.
Kurt Haeck (Manager, Petersime Service Station): “The hatchery training was a joint initiative of both Mr B. Soundararajan, Managing Director of Suguna Poultry Farm Ltd, and Petersime. I was delighted to have such a big group to work with, especially with the high degree of commitment and enthusiasm the trainees demonstrated throughout the course.”
A total of 28 Suguna staff members attended the training session: hatchery managers, project engineers, operational staff and technical engineers. On the last day, the participants visited the Sadayapalayam hatchery for hands-on practical sessions. The programme then came to a close with an examination to test the Sugana staff on their newly acquired knowledge, all under the watchful eye of Mr P. Angamuthu (DGM Projects).
Mr P. Angamuthu: “I am sure that this training programme will be a very important step in securing additional growth for Suguna Poultry. By learning new skills and techniques, Suguna will be able to get the most out of the incubators. As competition on the Indian poultry market gets tougher, chick quality improvement will be a crucial factor in strengthening Suguna’s position. This interactive approach to continuous improvement is the ideal way forward for both our companies. “
