Poultry Focus Asia 2008 - “They hatch like popcorn”
(or the importance of bio-response indicators in hatch window management)
(13/05/08)
Once again, this year’s edition of Poultry Focus Asia was a resounding success, attracting over 350 delegates from over 30 countries. In total, some 35 international experts were on hand to share best practices in efficiency and how to generate greater yield and higher profitability.
The feedback was extremely positive from all involved. The delegates repeatedly expressed that the conference was pitched at the right level for breeders as well as their advisers.
Christophe Bohez, Director of Petersime, discussed the importance of bio-response indicators in hatch window management. In his presentation, he explained how reducing the hatch window improves both hatchability and post-hatch bird performance, resulting in better chick quality, FCR and yield. The conference participants gained insight into the economics of a shorter hatch window. Mr Bohez highlighted the different bio-response parameters and the positive influence of embryo bio-response-based technology on the incubation process.
