AirStreamer™ concept

Incubator concept

The AirStreamer™ is setting new standards in single-stage incubation. Its concept and performance are truly unique.

The AirStreamer™ concept is based on two fundamental ideas:
  1. Uniformity of air distribution within a perfectly sealed environment
  2. Constant on-line monitoring and management of embryo behaviour (Bio-Response Incubation™)

The AirStreamer™ constantly out-performs any alternative incubation system. AirStreamer™ chicks hatch in bigger numbers and, even more importantly, they score significantly better on the quality scale: liveability, feed conversion and broiler yield attain previously unknown levels. Read on about the competitive advantages of AirStreamer™ incubation.

Designed for single-stage operation

The AirStreamer™ is specifically developed for single-stage incubation. All parameters are controlled independently. Air distribution was intensively optimised. The design takes the high heat output of eggs of modern poultry breeds into account.

Bio-Response Incubation™

The key point in the AirStreamer™ concept is Bio-Response Incubation™: a system based on constant interaction between the embryo and its incubator environment.
Different factors such as genetics, breeder management, flock age and egg age, egg size, shell porosity, etc., make each batch of hatching eggs truly unique.
Even so, traditional incubation systems still programme and control intermediate incubation parameters such as rates of ventilation and temperature/humidity of the air in the incubator.

Bio-Response Incubation™ goes much deeper into the process: by on-line diagnosis of the real embryo temperature, CO2 output, egg weight loss, etc., the system constantly and interactively optimises the incubation environment for each specific batch of eggs.
Scientific research and extensive field trials have proven that chick quality and hatchability as well as post-hatch performance largely benefit from active control of bio-response parameters during incubation.
The following bio-response technologies are available on AirStreamer™ incubators: Dynamic Weight Loss System™ (DWLS™), Carbon Dioxide Control™ (CO2NTROL™), OvoScan™ and Synchro-Hatch™.

CO2NTROL™

Gaseous exchange is known to be one of the most essential incubation factors. To drive the metabolism towards developing a healthy chick, oxygen has to be supplied to and carbon dioxide has to be removed from the egg as a waste product. Consequently, maintaining the correct levels of CO2 during the entire incubation cycle has a beneficial effect on the development of the blood circulatory system and embryo growth.
Alongside enhancing embryo development in setters, precisely timed CO2 stimulation in hatchers leads to simultaneous pipping and hatching as well as improved chick quality.

As a standard feature on all AirStreamer™ setters and hatchers, CO2NTROL™ takes care of on-line measurement of CO2-levels as input for ventilation control.

Dynamic Weight Loss System™

In order to achieve optimal hatchability and day-old-chick quality, eggs need to lose a certain amount of weight during incubation.
For this purpose, water needs to be transported from within the egg, through the eggshell to the environment.
By controlling the humidity level in the incubator, the rate of this water (and, therefore, weight) loss, can be managed, taking into account the eggshell water vapour conductance of the specific batch of eggs present in the machine.
The patented Dynamic Weight Loss System™ (DWLS™) takes care of the on-line weighing of eggs during all incubation stages.
Humidity levels are automatically adjusted to achieve the optimum weight loss trajectory from egg setting to transfer.

DWLS™ is a standard feature on all AirStreamer™ setters with FOCUS™ controls.

OvoScan™

Chicks that are hatched at the optimum temperature show extraordinary performance. With the patented OvoScan™ system, the incubator temperature is continuously adjusted in response to the actual eggshell temperature to constantly achieve the desired/optimum embryo temperature. This way, perfect control of the rate of the metabolic developing of the embryo is guaranteed.
By incorporating this feature, embryonic mortality is minimised and hatchability is optimised. Furthermore, a top quality dayold- chick is generated, guaranteeing significant post-hatch performance improvements (liveability, growth and FCR).

OvoScan™ is available as an option on all AirStreamer™ setters with FOCUS™ controls.

Synchro-Hatch™

Synchro-Hatch™ is a patented bio-response technology that synchronizes the hatch profiles to the hatching process. It automatically detects the exact timing of 100% internal pipping (IP) and initiates a sequence of modifications to the incubation environment. It also automatically recognizes when all chicks are out. The system triggers a further phase in the incubation parameters to optimize the finishing of the chicks to prepare them for take-off. Those actions reduce the hatch time and concentrate the hatch much nearer to the time of chick take-off.

Synchro-Hatch™ results in improved chick uniformity and quality as well as superior hatchery performance in terms of hatchability and power consumption.
  • True Hatch Window reduced by up to 30%
  • Better uniformity of hatch for unmatched chick quality
  • 0.77 % increase in hatchability
  • Over 60% reduction in hatcher energy consumption

Synchro-Hatch™ is exclusively available as an option on new Petersime AirStreamer™ hatchers and can be retrofitted to existing AirStreamer™ hatchers.
