Delmo upgrades with state-of-the-art hatchery
Delmo Chicken and Agro (Pvt) Limited, one of Sri Lanka’s leading poultry production and processing companies, has stepped up on a major upgrade in its capacity.
Recently, the company built one of Sri Lanka’s state-of-the-art hatcheries in cooperation with Petersime. With 16 BioStreamer™16S setters and 12 BioStreamer™4H hatchers, the company is now capable of producing 500,000 day-old chicks per month. The new hatchery is located in Kurunegala and consists of a fully pre-fabricated building with air handling included.
Founded in 1988 by Mr Sumith Perera as a backyard poultry production business, Delmo has consistently grown to the well-known household brand it is today. Thanks to the recent expansion strategy, the company is now considered as one of the largest poultry and agribusinesses of the country.
Mr Perera, currently still Chairman and Managing Director of Delmo Chicken and Agro Pvt. Ltd., states: “Sri Lanka is known to have the most modern poultry industry of Southern Asia.
